Atletico Madrid are poised to sign Alvaro Morata from Chelsea on an initial loan deal with an option to buy the player for £48.5million, per Goal.

The Spain international has, according to the aforementioned report, acquiesced to a pay cut should the option to buy be confirmed at the end of the season.

Morata has struggled in the Premier League, scoring just 24 goals in 72 games for the Blues since his move from Real Madrid in 2017.

FFC’S Christy Malyan thinks there is one thing Chelsea can do to claw their way back into the title-race. Find out what it is in the video below…

Chelsea broke their transfer record to sign Morata, paying £60m, according to BBC Sport.

However, they are now set to allow him to leave the club, opening the door for them to sign Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus.

Goal claim that Chelsea have already struck an agreement with Juve to secure Higuain’s signature, with the Argentina international also set to move on loan.

The merry-go-round, the report states, will be completed by AC Milan – the club where Higuain is currently on loan – signing Krzysztof Piatek from Genoa for a fee of £35million.

And several Chelsea fans have reacted with joy at the news of Morata potentially leaving the club, while others have expressed their sadness that he was never able to capture his best form at Stamford Bridge.
